THE JOB
SimX is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented in-house Accountant to join our dynamic team. As an integral part of the financial operations, the Accountant will be responsible for managing and updating our budget, following up on accounts receivable, handling invoicing processes, and contributing to the management of lenders and external capital sources. This role involves close collaboration with the CFO, leadership team, and cross-functional departments to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making. Additionally, the Accountant will play a key role in SBIR grant billing and forecasting. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gather and maintain all necessary financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, revenue forecasts, budgets, and cash-flow statements periodically and on demand.
  • Manage Accounts Payable processes, including verifying payment documentation, updating debt balances, conducting disbursements, and addressing outstanding bills.
  • Review and reconcile the general ledger, investigating discrepancies and taking appropriate actions to resolve them.
  • Develop, maintain, and update the company's budget in collaboration with the finance team. Monitor budget variances, provide insights for decision-making, and support strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to gather financial data, ensure alignment with organizational goals, and support invoicing processes.
  • Manage the billing process for SBIR grants, forecast grant utilization, and maintain compliance with grant requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  •  At least 3 years of corporate accounting experience
  • 3+ years of experience using Xero or similar accounting software platform
  • Personal integrity; ability to keep customer and company confidences
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience in audit and international accounting
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Permanent residence in the United States
This is a full-time, remote position. Candidates must live within the United States and will primarily be expected to work during Pacific Standard Time business hours. In addition, candidates will also be expected to attend major simulation conferences and/or in person closing meetings potentially as frequently as monthly.

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
  • Licensure such as certified public accountant (CPA)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Target salary range: $60,000-75,000 annually; commensurate with experience
